March 6, 2007 - Ron Coburn, chairman and CEO of Savage Sports Corporation in Westfield MA has been honored by SHOT Business Magazine and Time4Media outdoor media group as their "2007 Man of the Year". The award cites Coburn's dedication and contribution to the outdoor and firearm industry.

In selecting Coburn, Time 4 noted not only his personal contributions to the industry, but also noted Savage Arm's reemergence as the industry leader in quality, innovation, and accuracy.

Coburn took over the helm at Savage in 1993 and has been responsible for a corporate turnaround that industry insiders have called 'nothing short of miraculous'. When Coburn took over, Savage was the country's largest manufacturer of both rifles and shotguns, and losing money on both. He made a simple, and yet revolutionary decision, to scrap every model except one - but to make that one model the absolute best available on the market. It's a philosophy that still guides Savage today.

Coburn revolutionized the industry again ten years later with his introduction of the innovative AccuTrigger. The patented design allows consumers to adjust the trigger pull weight on their own rifle, and also prevents accidental discharge, even at its lowest settings.
