How to Adjust Renegauge Drop and Cast
How a shotgun fits the shooter is perhaps one of the most important factors when determining accuracy. Adjusting the drop and cast of a shotgun can help you achieve a perfect fit for more accuracy. This step-by-step guide will show you how to adjust the drop and cast of the Savage Renegauge.

WARNING! Always keep the muzzle pointed in a safe direction. Make sure your firearm is completely unloaded and ensure that your workspace is void of ammunition at all times. The safety should be set to the Full Safe position.
HOW TO ADJUST RENEGAUGE DROP AND CAST
- Ensure the Shotgun is clear of ammunition and place the safety in the full safe position.
- Always be sure the muzzle is pointed in a safe direction.
- To remove the screws on the buttstock, first place a drop of oil on each screw, then remove.
- Remove the recoil pad and spacer from the buttstock assembly.
- Using a deep ½” Hex Nut Driver, remove the hex nut from the inside of the buttstock.
- Remove the bushing from the stock and the buttstock assembly from the receiver.
- Then, remove the installed drop shim from the receiver.
- Select the matching set of shim and bushing.
- Please note the holes on the bushing to indicate the number, it is important that a matching set of busing and shim is used.
- Then, place the drop shim on the back of the receiver. (The cylindrical pins face the receiver, while the tapered pins face rearward towards the stock)
- Place the drop shim on the back of the receive. (The Cylindrical pins face the receiver, while the tapered pins dace rearwards towards the stock)
- Slide the stock over the Rod until it is flush to the receiver and shim.
- Confirm that the stock is flush to the receiver and the bushing is seated properly in the pocket.
- Install the hex nut to the stock rod until it is tight against the bushing and the stock is secure. (Tip: Place a piece of duct tape on the socket to hold the hex nut)
- Using the magnetic driver, tighten the nut to 120 in-lbs.
- Then place the recoil pad and spacer on the back of the stock. (Using a drop of oil in each screw location will prevent abrasion to the recoil pad)
- Tighten each screw until the recoil pad and spacer are secured with no gaps.
DROP SHIM AND BUSHING ADJUSTMENT
- Drop Shim/Bushing combination #1 will add approximately 0.100” additional drop at the heel.
- Drop Shim/Bushing combination #2 will add approximately 0.200” additional drop at the heel.
- Drop Shim/Bushing combination #3 will add approximately 0.300” additional drop at the heel.
- To add cast-off (recoil pad slightly to the right of Center), the cast shim should have “cast off” facing the receiver.
- To add cast-on (recoil pad slightly to the left of center), the cast shim should have “cast on” facing the receiver.
