The Savage A22 Takedown is a truly go-anywhere semi-auto rimfire rifle. Camping, hiking, boating, hitting the range or any outdoor activity, this rifle breaks down quickly to stow away in your pack for easy transport and storage. The best part is that the break down is a simple twist of the barrel forend assembly. The intuitive disassembly and reassembly of the A22 Takedown is possible due to a hardened steel lug in the receiver that indexes into a machined pathway in the barrel assembly that locks the barrel in place. 

WARNING! Always keep the muzzle pointed in a safe direction. Make sure your firearm is completely unloaded and ensure that your workspace is void of ammunition at all times. The safety should be set to the Full Safe position. Safety glasses should be worn.

How to Disassemble the A22 Takedown

1. Remove the magazine
2. Lock the bolt open
3. Ensure that the firearm is clear of ammunition
4. Set the safety to full safe position
5. Grasping firmly on the forend, rotate the barrel forend assembly 90 degrees clockwise
6. Remove the barrel forend assembly from the receiver to separate it from the buttstock assembly

How to Reassemble the A22 Takedown

1. Line up the chamber end of the barrel assembly with the shorter machined track at the 12 o’clock position. The forend should be at the 9 o’clock position.
2. Insert barrel forend assembly firmly into receiver
3. Rotate the barrel forend assembly 90 degrees counterclockwise to lock together
