How to Lock the Bolt Open on a Model 64

This step-by-step guide will show you how to lock the bolt open on a Model 64.
WARNING! Always keep the muzzle pointed in a safe direction. Make sure your firearm is completely unloaded before attempting any field stripping or disassembly. Always wear safety glasses when field stripping or during disassembly/reassembly of your firearm.

How to Lock the Bolt Open
- Set the safety to the full safe position.
- Push the latch and eject the magazine.
- Grasping firmly, slowly pull the cocking handle fully to the rear. Ensure the firearm is clear of ammunition.
- Let the cocking handle come forward slowly and push the handle into the counter bore, locking the bolt open.
- Re-insert the magazine.
To Close the Bolt
- Pull the cocking handle fully to the rear and release it, allowing the handle to “snap” forward.
- Tip: Pull outward on the cocking handle to clear the counterbore
