What is a Single Shot Adapter?

Just as the name implies, it turns a rifle with a traditional detachable magazine into a single shot rifle.  It effectively reduces the number of cartridges that firearm holds to one in the chamber.  The adapter does not allow the rifle to hold cartridges in the detachable magazine.  

Savage Single Shot Adapter

We have single shot adapters available in four configurations - one for each configuration of rifle that Savage produces that use the Savage flush fit magazines.  These will work for any short or long action cartridge that we chamber in a 110 or an Axis where the original magazine was the flush fit style.  These will not work to replace an AICS style magazine.  

The Savage single shot adapter is very simple to use. There are no modifications to the firearm needed to use it. It simply replaces your original factory detachable style magazine.   It is not permanent, so you can use it interchangeably with the original factory magazine. It also provides a loading ramp to load cartridges into the chamber in a fast, reliable manner.

Why Use a Single Shot Adapter?

Hunters in states like Illinois where laws now allow the use of certain straight walled rifle cartridges if the rifle is a single shot.  With this adapter, a hunter can now use a Savage rifle chambered in 350 Legend, 400 Legend or 450 Bushmaster to hunt deer.  Check your local laws and regulations to ensure your setup is legal in your hunting area. 

Shooters and hunters will also be able to benefit from an adapter at the range.  You can use these to load a single round in your rifle while sighting in when a traditional detachable style magazine may not really be needed.  This would just allow you to drop the cartridge onto the loading ramp and close the bolt.
