The Traveling AccuFit’s next stop is in Kansas to help a youth hunter harvest her first deer with the help of her mentor.

Hunting a whitetail buck, even for seasoned hunters, is a thrilling experience. Every hunter remembers their first deer and how excited they were, the sense of pride and joy. The only thing better than harvesting your first deer is experiencing that rush with a new hunter. Helping youth hunters prepare for their first hunts is a rush that Brittany Waldman chases as a mentor for Pass It Outdoor Mentors. Mentoring youth hunters is her passion.

“While hunting hasn’t always been a part of 13-year-old Cantanilla’s background, Cantanilla (aka “Nia”) has been a natural,” says, Brittany Waldman. “When she was 11, we helped her get her hunter's safety certification and took her on her first-ever pheasant hunt. It’s been extraordinary watching her grow and evolve into the young hunter that she is.”

Nia was able to spend a significant amount of time preparing for this hunt with Pass It On. She practiced shot placement and shooting out to different distances with Brittany to ensure Nia would be confident and ready to make a clean and successful shot when the opportunity arose.

The Savage Model 110 Long Range Hunter with AccuFit was a major contributor in the confidence that Nia had going into this hunt. When the Traveling AccuFit arrived, the length of pull was too long and the comb height was too low. After adjusting the length of pull and comb height, Nia was able to shoulder the rifle comfortably and confidently. This proper fitting rifle paired with the AccuTrigger and muzzle break was the perfect combination to help produce and ethical and clean shot.

After a rainy sit in the stand, Brittany spotted what they were chasing and alerted Nia, “Big buck! Big buck! Big buck!” Nia waited for the buck to turn broadside and pulled the trigger. Perfect shot. Big buck down!
