This year for International Women’s Day, we are celebrating the outdoors and those who make it a better place for all. We want to shine a spotlight on some amazing women in the outdoors – leaders, role models, mentors, mothers, sisters, and daughters – by sharing their stories, words of advice and encouragement for other women. We want to uplift and empower all the women who share the outdoors. One of the women we are proud to call our friend and partner at Savage is Kristin Dreyer. This is her story!

Kristin Dreyer

I am the co-host of Game of Inches TV on the Sportsman Channel with my husband Justin Olk.

My advice for women in the outdoors: Stick to your guns! I feel like women get a lot of pressure put on them to be the perfect hunter but ultimately just getting out there is the important thing. Don’t let the pressure stop you.

How the outdoor industry can support women: This applies to women and men in the industry but being encouraging and helping each other learn in is the way to grow.

How I Got Started:  My support system was mostly my husband and our videographer when I first started hunting but I have made a lot of awesome friends over the years hunting. Those people continue to provide me with encouragement and share their knowledge and we’ve made so many good memories along the way. It’s important to have people to share ideas and stories with!

How I support other women: My favorite hunt to this day was with young girl that had the lifelong challenge of Spina Bifida. She was a nervous to shoot a gun, so I jumped in the blind with her, threw some face paint on both of us, and we had the time of our lives just waiting for the right buck to walk out in front of her. She ended up taking a GREAT buck home and hopefully as many good memories as I have.

Why I’m proud to be a woman in the outdoors: I think it’s important for women to know what it takes to hunt and harvest your own food. I’m always proud to eat what I harvest and know where that meat came from.

Kristin Dreyer is one of the women in the outdoors we are proud to celebrate for International Women's Day.
