New Savage AXIS: Value Added Updates

Since its introduction in 2010, the Savage AXIS has set the standard as a high value rifle that brings affordable accuracy to the masses. In 2024, the AXIS line of rifles received its biggest upgrade yet. New stocks, new bolt handles, and new factory options like the AXIS 2 Pro with Cerakote finishes, one-piece rails, and threaded barrels. For 2026, we're adding even more value with a couple new upgrades across the whole AXIS line. Read on to learn more about what we've changed on the new Savage AXIS. 

Updated Features

Bringing value to the everyday hunter and shooter has always been the focus of the AXIS line, and we're pressing that goal even more in 2026 with some new Savage AXIS upgrades that bring more value and versatility to the line. We've threaded barrels on the AXIS line in the past, including most recently with the AXIS 2 Pro. Now, ALL AXIS models are threaded! Every rifle from the AXIS XP to the AXIS 2 Pro will have the ability to mount your favorite muzzle device, whether that's a muzzle brake or a Savage AccuCan suppressor. Affordability shouldn't mean sacrificing the ability to help quiet down your rifle and tame recoil, and we're bringing that option to the entire AXIS lineup.  

The other major addition to the new Savage AXIS is the adaptable stock, bringing length of pull adjustment to the AXIS line for the first time. Featured on select AXIS 2 rifles (AXIS 2, AXIS 2 XP, and AXIS 2 Pro), the new adaptable stock includes a removable spacer that lets you adjust your length of pull from a full-size 13.75” to a compact 12.75”. Adjustability is key, and the AXIS now has the versatility and adjustability you need to get even more value out of your rifle, making it a great rifle for the whole family to use. 

Accuracy Above All

What's the number one attribute in determining a rifle’s value? For us, it's always been accuracy. The new Savage AXIS may be headlined by more adjustability and adaptability, but that doesn't mean we’ve lost sight of the number one need for any hunter or shooter. Accuracy is still king, and the AXIS still delivers. The AXIS uses the same button rifled barrels, so you can have confidence that your AXIS barrel is built to the same great standards as all of our rifles. 

The AXIS also utilizes our thread-in headspacing with a barrel nut that allows for consistent, repeatable accuracy. The bolt utilizes our floating bolthead, helping to ensure a solid lockup and enhance the accuracy potential of the rifle. The user-adjustable AccuTrigger gives you more control over your trigger pull, allowing adjustments from 2.5 pounds to 6 pounds and a clean, crisp break that helps improve your shot. 

The New AXIS Lineup

We started with a new Savage AXIS lineup in 2024, introducing five base models that have brought new ergonomics and new features to the AXIS line. Each of these new models have received updates for 2026, bringing more versatility and value to our current AXIS lineup. Here's what you can expect from each one. 

AXIS XP

The base model of the AXIS line, the AXIS XP features an ergonomic black stock, hexagonal bolt handle design, standard trigger, and includes a factory mounted and boresighted 3-9x40 scope, making it a great package rifle for hunters of any skill level. Now, the AXIS XP comes threaded, so you can add a suppressor or muzzle brake and enjoy shooting your rifle more while not breaking the bank. 

AXIS 2

The AXIS 2 is the next step up in the AXIS line. While it doesn't include a packaged scope, it does come with Weaver scope mounts on the receiver. The AXIS 2 features the user-adjustable AccuTrigger, giving you the ability to adjust your trigger pull from 2.5 to 6 pounds. New AXIS 2 models now feature a threaded barrel, as well as the adaptable stock for more adjustability and versatility in the field. 

AXIS 2 XP  

The AXIS 2 is a great value on its own, but when you add a factory mounted and boresighted scope, you get the AXIS 2 XP. The AXIS 2 XP has all the same features as the AXIS 2, including the AccuTrigger and OD Green and Grey stocks, but adds in a 3-9x40 scope. If you want a package rifle that's accurate, has an adjustable trigger and length of pull, is suppressor ready, and is ready to zero and hit the woods, then the AXIS 2 XP is the pick for you.   

AXIS 2 XP Hardwood 

Sometimes, a good wood stock is hard to beat. It evokes a sense of nostalgia, for a different era of rifles from the past. The AXIS 2 XP Hardwood is an homage to that era, trading in the polymer stock for a non-adjustable wood stock that keeps the same ergonomic design. It features our AccuTrigger, as well as a factory mounted and boresighted 3-9x40 scope, making it the perfect package for a quiet sit in the woods that reminds you of deer seasons of old. If you want to keep your shot quieter as well, the threaded barrel make it perfect for adding a little new school technology with a suppressor to help keep the noise down.  

AXIS 2 Pro 

At the top end of the AXIS line is the AXIS 2 Pro, which brought new features to the AXIS line when it was first released in 2024. Cerakote finishes, threaded barrels, and one-piece picatinny rails all come standard on the AXIS 2 Pro. It also features the AccuTrigger, as well as camo stock options including Savage Woodland, Savage Western, and our Forest SP pattern. Now, those stocks are getting an upgrade with the adaptable stock featuring length of pull adjustment. The new Savage AXIS 2 Pro has everything you need in a rifle, with more adjustability and value than ever. We're also adding an additional sling stud to the forend of our AXIS 2 Pro rifles, so you can use any bipod you want with ease.

From day one, the goal of the AXIS has been to bring accuracy, affordability, and value to the masses. We've tinkered and tweaked the AXIS design over the years, adding new stock designs, different bolts, and more options than ever before. Now with threaded barrels across the line and adjustable length of pull on select models, the AXIS brings even more features to the value-minded hunter.
