What do you need to make a good hunting rifle? A quality, reliable action, an accurately machined barrel, and a clear scope have you well on the way to a good start. When we think of a good hunting rifle, a few more key additions also come to mind. Success in the field starts with a high quality rifle, but the best hunting rigs add some key hunting accessories to take their performance to the next level.

This guide will walk you through everything you need to know about Savage’s hunting accessories. From bipods to AccuCan suppressors, to spare magazines for your rifle, we’ve got the gear that will help you stay confident, stay steady, and stay stealthy in the field.

Savage Bipods

Bipods have become one of the more popular hunting accessories in recent years, and for good reason. Bipods help steady your rifle out in the field, helping you have a better, more stable sight picture. This translates to better shots on targets, and ultimately a more ethical shot that is taken with a higher likelihood of quickly killing your target animal.

The Savage bipod is built from high grade polymer, making it a rugged and reliable choice for taking into the field no matter what game you’re pursuing. They come with a few key features that help them stand out:

  • Easily adjustable height from 7.2” to 10”
  • 50-degree cant adjustment, operated by a tilt lever on the back side of the bipod legs.
  • Buttonless stowing for quick and easy deployment and stowing
  • High traction rubber feet for use in any terrain.

The Savage bipod can come with either an M-Lok or a sling stud mounting system, making them perfect to use for a wide variety of situations. When it comes to keeping your rifle steady out in the field, the Savage bipod is always up to the task.

AccuCan Suppressors

Everywhere you look today, you’ll see more hunters choosing to use a suppressor on the end of their rifle. It’s easy to see why! Suppressors help make the direction of your shot more difficult to identify, which can make game animals less likely to spook and make potential follow-up shots easier. They are also excellent for hearing protection by reducing the noise level of a shot to safer hearing levels. Suppressors also help reduce recoil and decrease muzzle flash, making your rifle more comfortable to shoot in the field.

The AccuCan line of suppressors is purpose built for hunting, making your rifle quieter and softer shooting, all while introducing minimal point of impact shift from your zero and maintaining accuracy. They’re easy to disassemble, which makes breaking them down and cleaning them at home or at camp a breeze. The best part? We have several different AccuCans available, with each one being a great addition to the hunting accessories for your rifle.

Centerfire Suppressors

  • AC30: The AC30 is the OG in Savage centerfire suppressors. Built with MonoKore Technology, the AC30 features a titanium thread insert with an aluminum body construction. It’s rugged, reliable, and effective to help keep your rifle quieter in the field. It’s also rated up to 300 PRC, making it useful for a wide variety of calibers.
  • AC30 B.O.B.: The newest addition to the AccuCan lineup, the AC30 B.O.B. (back over bore) suppressor is built with the same great technology as the AC30, but in a more compact package. The thread insert is located within the suppressor, helping to cut down on the overall length of a suppressed rifle by 3 inches. With a larger internal volume than the AC30, the AC30 B.O.B. maintains the same level of effectiveness while helping you have a more compact rifle package. Rated up to 300 Win Mag.
  • AC350: This AccuCan is for the straight wall hunters! The AC350 is purpose built for Midwest hunters using straight-wall rifles. It features all the same technology as the AC30 but is rated for calibers up to 350 Legend using bolt action rifles.

Rimfire Suppressors

  • AC22: The AC22 is great for both plinking and small game hunting. It’s compact and incredibly quiet, with a sound reduction of up to 114 dB with sub-sonic ammunition. This makes the AC22 a must have addition to your rimfire hunting rifle. The AC22 is rated up to 22 WMR and 17 HMR.

Spare Magazines

Carrying spare magazines may seem like more of a fit for extra range accessories, rather than hunting accessories. However, there are a few situations where having a spare magazine can be incredibly useful in the field.

  • Backcountry hunts always require extra gear, and a spare magazine is no exception. If your magazine gets lost or damaged on a hunt, and you’re left without a backup, then your hunt can end in a hurry. Having a couple spares with extra ammunition always helps in case the worst happens.
  • Predator and pest control can involve high volume shooting and a large number of targets. Having a few spare magazines loaded up and ready to go can help you get back on target faster, rather than spending time reloading your magazine and missing out on getting a few more shots off.
  • Out of state trips are similar to backcountry hunts in this regard as well. Sometimes things get lost, and having a couple of extra magazines can be incredibly useful if you misplace or drop your rifle mag while you’re on a hunting trip out of state.

If you’re looking for a spare magazine for your Savage rifle, we offer a variety of retail packaged magazines over at our Basecamp web store!

Hunting accessories may not be a core piece of the gear you need for your hunt, but they can be crucial in getting an extra edge of accuracy, making your shooting more comfortable, or helping to save your hunt in a pinch. So when you’re thinking about what you need for your next hunt, don’t forget some critical Savage hunting accessories that will help make your time spent in the field that much better.
