We joined the world in celebrating International Women’s Day (IWD) earlier this year by shining a spotlight on women in the outdoors and those who make it a better place for all. We shared the stories and words of advice and encouragement of leaders, role models, mentors, mothers, sisters, and daughters to uplift and empower all the women who share the outdoors. We have met and gotten to know many more incredible women since March 2022, and we simply couldn’t wait until IWD 2023 to introduce you to more Women in the Outdoors! One of the women we are proud to call our friend at Savage is Allie Butler. This is her story!

I am the owner of Piddlin’ Outdoors apparel. Find me on the new show airing fall 2022 called ‘Earn it’. I've always loved the outdoors & I’ve been hunting with my dad since I was 3 years old.

My advice for women in the outdoors: Don’t let someone tell you can’t do something just because you’re a woman! Instead, let that be a push to prove them wrong! 👊🏼

How the outdoor industry can support women: Let us do our thing & don’t judge how we choose to go about hunting or fishing. We’re all different & that’s a good thing!

How women can get involved in the outdoors: If you’re new to hunting/fishing or just want to meet other ladies I suggest checking out ADC!

How I Got Started:  It was tough! Especially when I was younger. I was made fun of for hunting & was told that it was for boys. I proved them wrong & started gaining more respect when I harvested my B&C buck back in 2015. With anything, I think consistency is key. Just keep doing what you love & soak in all the greatness of each hunt in the beautiful outdoors. People will eventually respect you if they know you’re doing it for the right reasons.

How I support other women: This past deer & turkey season I took a youth hunter to harvest her FIRST buck & then her FIRST turkey. It’s safe to say she’s hooked & loves the outdoors. I made sure we both soaked in the experience, because it’s not just about the kill.

Why I’m proud to be a woman in the outdoors: I think us outdoors ladies are some of the strongest females on this earth. Knowing I can feed & take care of my family is an amazing feeling!
