We joined the world in celebrating International Women’s Day (IWD) earlier this year by shining a spotlight on women in the outdoors and those who make it a better place for all. We shared the stories and words of advice and encouragement of leaders, role models, mentors, mothers, sisters, and daughters to uplift and empower all the women who share the outdoors. We have met and gotten to know many more incredible women since March 2022, and we simply couldn’t wait until IWD 2023 to introduce you to more Women in the Outdoors! One of the women we are proud to call our friend at Savage is Rain Williams. This is her story!

Rain Williams

I am Rain Williams of Rain Outdoors and I am an outdoors social media influencer. Hunting and fishing is a family legacy that has been passed down to me by my parents and I enjoy sharing those same experiences with my husband and children.

My advice for women in the outdoors: To all women in the outdoors and future outdoorswomen I encourage you to always believe in yourself. We are capable of doing so many things and at times we get in the way of our own success because we talk ourselves out of doing things out of fear and uncertainty. Remember you can, and you will!

How the outdoor industry can support women: I believe inclusion is key. Getting their spouses involved, bringing their daughters out and getting them interested in the outdoors. It may turn into a passion, it may not, but the time spent together is priceless and will leave memories that will last a lifetime.

Why I’m proud to be a woman in the outdoors: I love being outdoors and I love to see, as well as hear how my influence has motivated other women to get outdoors. A lot of times women will come back and tell me stories of their very first outdoor adventure either by themselves or with a friend and how much they enjoyed it and appreciate me for encouraging them to do so. So that's the real reward for me, knowing that yet another woman has gone out into the outdoors and enjoyed it!

Challenges women face in the outdoor industry: The hunting industry is a male dominated industry. When given the opportunity to discuss my experiences and knowledge, typically people are taken back and become more receptive to women in the outdoors. As I have actually introduced my husband to the outdoors (when it's normally the other way around), most men are either shocked and women amazed at what women can and have accomplished in the outdoors.
