How to Disassemble Renegauge
Unlike other semi-auto shotguns that are notorious for coming apart in many pieces, Renegauge comes apart in only five major pieces with just a few easy steps. Whether you need to field strip your shotgun or fully break it down for a deep clean, this guide will show you how to disassemble Renegauge to keep it running in peak condition.
Before You Start
Verify the firearm is clear of ammunition and the safety selector is in the full safe position. Never attempt to disassemble, clean or oil a loaded firearm. Refer to the owner’s manual.
Disassembly Steps
- After confirming the firearm is clear of ammunition, ensure the safety selector is in the full safe position.
- While holding the charging handle rearward, depress the carrier release.
- Carefully allow the bolt to move fully forward (keep your fingers clear of the ejection port!) and verify its position by pressing forward on the charging handle
- Unscrew the magazine cap. You’ll hear a clicking noise as you unscrew it.
- Separate the barrel from the receiver and magazine tube by grasping the barrel forward of the magazine tube and pulling away from the receiver. The barrel and forend will slide out of and away from the receiver and magazine tube.
- During reassembly, put forward pressure on the bolt handle until the barrel clicks into place.
- To remove the forend, grasp the barrel and slide the forend rearward.
- Remove the gas piston from the barrel
Carrier Disassembly
- Hold pressure back on the carrier assembly
- Push the bolt into the carrier until the end of the notch lines up with the carrier
- Pull the charging handle out of the carrier
- During reassembly, line up the notch while inserting the charging handle into the carrier. The pin will fit flush and lock into place
- Remove the one-piece carrier from the magazine tube
- Slide the magazine spring off the magazine tube
Bolt Removal
- Push the bolt retaining pin out. Once removed the bolt will come out from the front.
- When replacing the bolt retaining pin during reassembly, insert it into the front hole opposite of the bolt handle.
- To remove the firing pin, pry upward on the firing pin retaining pin. The firing pin will come out from the rear.
Trigger Assembly Removal
- Use a punch to push the retainer pin from the left side of the receiver
- Remove the exposed retaining pin from the other side
- Pull up on the trigger guard to remove the trigger assembly
And that’s how to disassemble Renegauge! Once it is cleaned and inspected, repeat these steps in reverse to reassemble Renegauge. Regular cleaning and maintenance will help extend the life of your Renegauge so it’s ready to rock the next time you head out to the blind or go to crush some clays at the range.
