The newest rimfire rifle from Savage is officially here, and this one is a rimfire rifle unlike any we have made before. Introducing the Model 110 RF, a full size rimfire rifle built around the legendary 110 action. This new series is a versatile addition to our 110 and rimfire rifle lines, with rifle options for competitive shooters, small game hunters, and those that just want a full size 22 LR to enjoy on the range. Let’s dive in to everything you need to know about the new Model 110 RF rifles.

The New Rimfire Rifles

The new Model 110 RF features three new rifles, each with their own distinct looks and uses. The new line includes the 110 RF Magpul, 110 RF Core Tactical, and the 110 RF Elite Precision, each built with accuracy and precision in mind.

110 RF Magpul

The 110 RF Magpul may look familiar to longtime Savage shooters. Featuring the same Magpul Hunter stock as the 110 Magpul Hunter and 110 Magpul Scout, this Model 110 RF rifle fits perfectly for range or hunting use. It’s a rugged, reliable option that you can run hard in the field and put through its paces. With a one-piece rail and threaded barrel included, you can set it up for long range shots on the range, or for close in and quiet shots when hunting squirrels. Anywhere you use a 22 LR, the 110 RF Magpul fits right in.

110 RF Core Tactical

Just like its big brother, the 110 RF Core Tactical is a rifle that’s built to fit everyone. It features the same AccuFit V2 stock as its centerfire counterpart, with a beavertail forend featuring an integrated ARCA rail and M-Lok accessory slots for mounting your favorite bipod or tripod. If you want a range rifle that’s rock solid, reliable, and adjustable, then you’ll want to reach for the 110 RF Core Tactical.

110 RF Elite Precision

Precision built for the serious competitor; the 110 RF Elite Precision is made for those seeking the ultimate 22 LR precision rig. Like the Model 110 Elite Precision, its built with a MDT ACC Gen 2 Premier chassis, offering stability, rigidity, and adjustability for the perfect fit and excellent performance. The Model 110 RF Elite Precision also features a Competition AccuTrigger to give you a smooth, crisp trigger pull for improved accuracy potential.

Small Caliber, Full Sized Action

The Model 110 RF may be chambered in one of the smallest cartridges out there, but it’s built from a full-size Model 110 action. Specifically, the 110 RF rifles have the same footprint as a short action Model 110. Why is this important? It offers a few key benefits not often found in a rimfire rifle.

  • Aftermarket Compatibility: Among its claims to fame for accuracy and affordability, the Model 110 is also widely renowned for its aftermarket support. With the same footprint as a Model 110 short action, the Model 110 RF will have a wide range of aftermarket options already available on the market. So, if you have a favorite aftermarket stock or chassis, these new rifles are ready to drop in.
  • Competitive training: This feature is for our diehard Savage shooters and competitors. With the full-size action, and adjustable throw length that we’ll discuss shortly, you can use the 110 RF as a training rifle for your centerfire competition. You have the size and feel of a centerfire rifle, while saving money on ammo by shooting 22 LR for just a few cents per round.
  • Match Chamber: The 110 RF features a Bentz Match chamber, which helps to enhance the accuracy potential of the rifle. This chamber is tighter than a regular 22 LR chamber, which presses the bullet tighter into the rifling for more consistent spin and better accuracy.

Bolt Locking and Adjustment

The Model 110 RF has a couple more key features that help set this rifle apart from others, and make it a more accurate and versatile platform for shooters.

Front Locking Bolt

When you look at most rimfire rifles out there today, you will find a variety of bolt locking designs. The Model 110 RF is different, and the first clue is looking at the bolt. When you look at the front of a Model 110 RF rifle’s bolt, you’ll see that it resembles the locking lugs of a full-size center fire Model 110. This is intentional, and the 110 RF utilizes the same front locking design that you will find on a centerfire 110. Why utilize this design? The front locking design helps provide a more solid and rigid connection between the cartridge and the bolt, helping provide the optimum recipe for accuracy. When combined with the aforementioned match chamber, it squeezes every ounce of accuracy potential out of the rifle.

Reversible Front Baffle

On a centerfire Model 110, you’ll see the front baffle directly behind the locking lugs. This piece is what hits the back of your receiver when you work the bolt to eject a spent casing, and it determines the throw length of your bolt. One of the main objectives of the Model 110 RF was to provide shooters with a rifle that they can use to train for their centerfire competitions.

To achieve this goal, we wanted shooters to still be able to build their muscle memory with a 22 LR rifle. With most rimfire rifles, you have a much shorter throw length due to the smaller action and bolt. We designed the 110 RF with a reversible front baffle, which requires no tools and easily swaps from a standard 22 LR throw length to a short action 308 throw length. This simple and quick modification allows you to use the Model 110 RF as a rimfire trainer, building your shooting skills and muscle memory while saving money on ammo.

Additional Features

The Model 110 RF doesn’t just offer robust accuracy across all models, but a few other key features as well. For competitive shooters and range junkies alike, the L3i Elite magazine is perfect for getting the most performance possible out of your rifle. This AICS pattern magazine holds 10 rounds, and has an adjustable latch to help you fine tune how the magazine sits in the magazine well to eliminate tilt-induced malfunctions that can be common on some rimfire rifles. The Model 110 RF rifles also come with threaded bolt knobs, so you can swap out and run your favorite bolt knob on the range.

The Model 110 RF is a new generation of rimfire rifle for Savage. Building off the 110 action, we’re delivering our most accurate rimfire rifles to date that are adjustable, customizable, and dependable. Whether you’re a competition shooter looking for the perfect trainer, a diehard rimfire competitor looking for top of the line accuracy, or a weekend warrior looking for a new plinker or small game rifle, there’s a 110 RF that fits your needs and belongs in your safe.
